Honey Garlic Chicken

Chicken has the tendency to be boring. But, I made a perfect Asian marinade that was full of flavor and spice! Don’t think you can only use this marinade on just chicken breasts, use it for marinating chicken wings, salmon or even as the base sauce for a vegetable or noddle stir fry.

Ingredients:

  • 2 Large Boneless Chicken Breasts
  • 2 Garlic Cloves
  • 2 TB Green Onion, Chopped
  • 3 TB Low-Sodium Soy Sauce
  • 1 TB Fresh Ginger, Grated
  • 1 TB Honey
  • ¼ Cup Orange Juice
  • 1 tsp. Sesame Oil
  • ½ tsp. Sesame Seeds
  • ½ tsp. Red Wine Vinegar
  • ¼ tsp. Red Pepper Flakes (feel free to add more depending on how spicy you like it)

Directions:

Take your large chicken breasts and filet them. This will assure that the chicken cooks quickly and evenly in the oven. Then chop up both the garlic and green onion. For the ginger, first use a peeler to remove the skin, and then use a hand grater to create fine pieces of ginger for the marinade.

In a small mixing bowl, add all of the above marinade ingredients. Once everything is added into the bowl, use a small whisk to mx the ingredients well so that it is evenly mixed.

By using an airtight plastic container, add the chicken and pour the marinade over the meat. Be sure to mix around so that the chicken is evenly coated in the marinade.

Allow the chicken to marinate for to at least two hours. I marinated my chicken for 5 hours, and was it very flavorful!

When you are ready to cook the chicken, place the breasts onto a lined baking sheet and cook in a 375-degree oven for 30 minutes. In the middle of the cooking time, turn the chicken over so that the other side of the breast gets color.

Plate and serve with a sprinkle of sesame seeds. I served the chicken with stir fried mixed vegetables!
